Way late to the party here, but there's potentially a very simple rule here. Normally you have to rest every 6 turns to avoid becoming fatigued. But if you bring a keg of good brew along (naturally increasing encumbrance in whatever-way-you-track-it), you don't.
Or, more specifically, you do still 'rest', but it doesn't take enough time for the DM to roll a random encounter check. Unless you get rowdy.
